Thanks to the generosity of three members of the local Vietnamese community, the QEII Hospital Fund has received a donation of $8370. The donation came from the fundraising efforts of Binh Nguyen, who goes by Sonny, his wife Thao Ho, and fellow Vietnamese community member Quyen Nguyen.
This is not the first time Sonny and the Vietnamese community have rallied behind the QEII Hospital Fund. With the support of Amanda Spann, QEII Volunteer Coordinator, their ongoing commitment and generosity continue to make a meaningful difference, reflecting Sonny's passion for supporting the hospital and the patients it serves.
Community Partnerships Manager Ellen Dann, who accepted the donation alongside Acting Executive Director Julie Argus and Ms Spann, said the Fund was deeply grateful for the trust the Vietnamese community continues to place in it.
"We are just so grateful to Sonny, Thao and Quyen, and to the whole Vietnamese community that continues to give back to their local Hospital through the QEII Hospital Fund. Their generosity, and the fact that they keep coming back year after year, tells you everything about how much they care about this hospital and the people who walk through its doors."
Ms Dann said donations go directly towards helping patients receive better care and, ultimately, better outcomes.
"Generosity and kindness like this enable us to fund equipment, research and care that helps our clinical teams to get patients home sooner to their loved ones. It all comes back to the same thing, patients getting better care because people like Sonny, Thao and Quyen chose to give."
During the presentation, Sonny shared that he and Thao already have plans for an even bigger fundraising event next year, a sign of their continued dedication to the QEII community.
In addition to his fundraising efforts, Sonny is a highly respected interpreter, providing invaluable support across hospitals within Metro South Health.
